If you experience issues when scanning a plant barcode and no information appears, follow these steps to troubleshoot the problem:

1. Check User Access & Permissions

Is the user registered in the system?

  • Ensure the user has an active account in the system. If they are not registered, they will not be able to scan.

Does the user have permission to scan?

  • Some users may not have the necessary permissions to scan barcodes. Check if their role includes barcode scanning access.

Are camera permissions enabled?

  • The app requires camera access to scan barcodes. Ensure camera permissions are enabled in the device settings.

2. Verify the Barcode & Plant Record

Is the barcode correctly linked to the plant?

  • If the barcode is not returning any results, verify that it is correctly assigned to the piece of plant in the system.

  • Check the plant record in the system to ensure the barcode is recorded correctly.

3. Check App & Device Compatibility

Is the user on the latest version of the app?

  • Outdated app versions may not support barcode scanning correctly. Make sure the app is updated to the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.

Is the phone's operating system up to date?

  • Older operating systems may cause compatibility issues. Ensure the device is running the latest iOS or Android version.

4. Ensure Proper Scanning Conditions

Is the barcode damaged or dirty?

  • Scratched, faded, or dirty barcodes may not scan properly. Clean the barcode or try another angle.

Is there adequate lighting?

  • Poor lighting can affect the camera's ability to read the barcode. Ensure there is sufficient light when scanning.

Is the camera lens clean?

  • A dirty or smudged camera lens can affect scanning accuracy. Wipe the lens and try again.
